Sachin Aarti - Prayer for the Cricket GOD - Sachin Tendulkar

For years now, Sachin has been worshipped as the GOD of Indian cricket. But what might be new is a formal prayer for HIM:

Shows the amount of respect people have for him and the craze for cricket that exists in India!

Sachin cancels b'day celebrations, skips IPL to pray for Sai Baba

Update: Unfortunately, spiritual guru Sri Sathya Sai Baba died on 24th morning. The news of Baba's demise came as a shock to Sachin Tendulkar.  Apparently, he skipped his breakfast and the 'Do not disturb' borad was seen hanging outside his hotel room. But he courageously decided to play the IPL match in spite of the shock and scored 28 runs in 24 balls before he got out.

In a respectable decision from the maestro Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, he has decided to cancel his birthday celebrations and skip the IPL match against Deccan Chargers on 24th April (his birthday) to pray for the speedy recovery of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. Sachin turns 38 with this birthday. Check out the news clip from YouTube:

Sachin has put the following message on twitter:
Sachin_rt: "I m praying for Shri Sathya Sai Baba's quick recovery. Hope everyone will join me in praying for his return to good health."

Sachin is a great devotee of Sathya Sai Baba and takes his blessings at every chance he gets. He also keeps Sathya Sai Baba's photo in his kit bag.

While some of the Mumbai Indian fans and members of management might be upset over his decision and would definitely miss him, everyone definitely respects his personal decision. After all, he has helped Mumbai Indians to reach the top of the IPL 4 standings.

Let us all pray that Sathya Sai Baba gets well soon, even if you aren't his devotee, for Sachin!

India's World Cup Victory -Final words!

The much advertized Helicopter shot of Mahendra Singh Dhoni by Pepsi finally is witnessed in this World Cup, and in what style! The winning shot of the World Cup it is! The way he rotates his bat in style after the match winning shot was worth watching. Uncharacteristically, Dhoni also plays the Sehwag's Square Cut for a 6. Seems like Dhoni wants to go in big for the entire Pepsi Ambassadorship :P

Love the words of Virat Kohli after the match- "Sachin has carried the burden of Indian Cricket for 21 years, it is time we carry him on his shoulders!" after carrying Sachin on their shoulders round the stadium ground. Gary Kirsten also received similar respect. Thanks to the young chaps Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Yousuf Pathan and Harbhajan Singh.

Rajni - Gajini & Sachin's non-performance - India's secret to World Cup win!

Rumour is in the wind that India hasn't lost a match when Rajnikant is present in the stadium. They say "Have no fear when Rajnikant is here!". With both Rajni (Rajnikant) and Gajini (Amir Khan) being in the stadium for the World Cup 2011 cricket finals, we couldn't have asked for more!

Also, many-a-times it is claimed that Sachin has never played a match winning innings or whenever he plays, india does not win. This bad omen, true or not, was also set aside when Sachin got out early in the innings without much contribution.

So, was it the Rajni-Gajini + Sachin effect that helped India clinch the World Cup crown?
Interestingly, many of the predictictions blogged here proved to be true!(Weren't mine, got them through a source. I'll need to consult him more often now ;))

India did it - For Sachin, for us! The World Cup Winners!

Thanks to:
  1. Yuvraj Singh - Man of the series (362 Runs & 15 wickets)
  2. Zaheer Khan - Leading wicket taker (21 wickets)
  3. Sachin Tendulkar - Leading runs scorer for India (2nd highest overall in WC after Dilshan - 482)
  4. Mahendar Singh Dhoni - Captain's innings in the finals (91*)

The after effects of India's World Cup Final victory:

  1. People are celebrating Dussera
  2. Everyone is out on the streets dancing with Indian flags, shouting slogans like "Chak De India", "Bharat Mata ki Jai", "India...India" etc.
Apart from being written in the History in Golden letters, this has a more uniting significance!
This is a rare occasion when entire India gathers as one celebrating the victory together, dancing, shouting slogans etc. Indeed cricket does unite the entire country.
Now I know, why Cricket is called the religion of India!

Can Sachin make a Century of centuries in the final? & also be Man of the Series?

After having most unparalleled records under his name, can Sachin do it yet again? Can he make a century of centuries in the World Cup Final 2011?

Rumour has it that the reason why Sachin apparently gave up his wicket after 6 lives in the match at Mohali against Pakistan is that he didn't want his 100th century to come out of such a sluggish innings. He'd rather prefer it to be one of the most clean & perfect innings.

This milestone, if achieved by Sachin in the finals does not seem to be reachable in the near future by anyone, the closest being our very own disappointed Punter, Ricky Pointing with 69 hundreds(tests + one days).

Moreover, Sachin is just 3 runs behind the leading run scorer of the World Cup, T. Dilshan of Sri Lanka. They both along with Yuvraj Singh for his all round performance are the front runners for the "Man of the Series Award". I don't want to rule out the bowlers but the leading wicket taker, Shahid Afrid is already back home and unless exceptional, it is difficult to give the award to player from non-finalist team. Only if Zaheer Khan takes a good haul will he be able to cross Shahid Afridi as the leading wicket taker in the world cup 2011 to join the race for "Man of the World Cup".

So which feather will Sachin add to his already beautified hat in this world cup(which seems to be his last World Cup as well)!
